Backbone Cyclization

A stable amide bond is formed between the C-terminal carboxyl group and the N-terminal amino group. The minimum length of the peptide should be at least 5 amino acids for a backbone cyclization. No limits are set for the maximum length. However, the cyclization becomes more challenging as the number of amino acids increases. A certain folding of the peptide has a supportive effect.
